Finding a good dress is difficult and finding a good dress for the fall or winter is even harder. So, I was thrilled when I found this striped midi dress at Urban Outfitters. It’s got a great length, has sleeves, has functional buttons running down the front (so you can breastfeed in it if you need to), runs true to size, and is affordable. I find this all terribly exciting.
In addition to the virtues listed above, this dress has a gorgeous wine color, which is perfect for this season because one of Pantone’s Fall 2017 Color Trend colors is “Tawny Port,” which is basically a burgundy/wine color. I also love that it takes the stripes trend into fall so well. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but it also has a small forest green stripe running through it. It goes perfectly with my green bag from J. Crew, which is sadly no longer available. There are, however, some lovely options in the carousel above.
I love the tie detail on the sleeves of the dress, and I think the bow necklace I’m wearing here (see a similar here) mimics the effect with pleasing results.
I chose to wear a camisole under the dress because it has a plunging neckline. I’d recommend one that has a sweetheart or V-neck (I put an example in the carousel) so that it better compliments the neckline of the dress. I solved this problem by creating a pinch in my scoop-neck tank with a safety pin.
I’m wearing my del pumps from Corso Como here. These shoes have a classic silhouette and go with just about everything because of their color and because they are patent leather, so they can be worn with fairly casual dresses (like I did here) or with much dressier ones. I would not give these shoes an A+ for comfort, but they have gotten substantially more comfortable over time. They are fine to stand in, but walking for any distance could prove unpleasant.
I think this outfit turned out really well! It’s a great option for the office, church, a lunch date, a baptism, or any other dressier daytime occasion.
